Pastor Chris Chadwick and his wife Debbie

Growing up in a Christian home, Pastor Chadwick was saved at the age of 11 and surrendered to “full-time ministry” in 1993 while attending Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College (now Heartland Baptist Bible College). While at PCBBC, Pastor met and married his wife Debbie, and over the next four years God blessed their home with two wonderful daughters, Judith and Natalie. Pastor Chadwick began working in full-time ministry at Calvary Baptist Church, San Dimas, California in 1994, becoming the youth director in 1995. Pastor Chadwick served at CBC until the September following his graduation from PCBBC with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology in 1996. God then moved the Chadwick family to Amarillo, Texas, where over the next 6 years, Pastor Chadwick served as Assistant Pastor of Central Baptist Church. God used this time of working in a variety of ministries to prepare the Chadwick family to move to San Diego to start CRBC in November of 2002. As strong as his love for the people of San Diego was in 2002, God has increased Pastor Chadwick’s love and vision for CRBC greatly over the years, and he is excited to see just what God will continue to do in the future.

Assistant Pastor Burnie Lund

Burnie Lund was saved at an early age and was raised in a raised in a Christian home. Burnie attended college at the U.S. Naval Academy where he received his degree in Chemistry in 2003, after which he moved to San Diego to report for sea duty in the U.S. Navy. While looking for a church, God led him to Canyon Ridge Baptist, where he became the music director in November 2004. Burnie is uniquely gifted in the areas of music and administration. Besides music he enthusiastically enjoys evangelism, fiction and spending time with the people of Canyon Ridge. He has become a San Diegan at heart and looks forward to many years of faithful ministry at CRBC!

Assistant Pastor (Youth Director) John Vaught and his wife Misty

John grew up in the Kansas City, MO area and was saved as a young boy. In 1995, John met Misty, and they were married in August 1998. In 2000, John began working with the teenagers of New Testament Baptist Church, Tucson, AZ., and God developed a unique burden for youth within John’s heart. It was during this time that John surrendered to full-time ministry and committed to attend Heartland Baptist Bible College, where he graduated in May 2007. God blessed John and Misty in two very specific ways while at HBBC. First, it was during these years that their two children Nyah and Naison were born, and secondly, John and Misty had the opportunity to prepare for “Full-Time” youth ministry by working with the young people of Southwest Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, OK. In January of 2007, God brought the Vaught family to work with Pastor Chadwick and Canyon Ridge Baptist Church. Currently, John serves as the Assistant Pastor with a focus on both youth and evangelism. John and Misty look forward to being a part of the great future that God has in store for Canyon Ridge Baptist Church.

Canyon Ridge Baptist Church meets twice a week to go out and fulfill the great commission. Every Tuesday night at 7PM and Saturday morning at 10AM we meet to make visits, pass out invitations, and share the Gospel of Christ with a lost and dying world.

Pastor Chris Chadwick has a great desire to see new Christians grow in their faith! In the next few weeks, CRBC will begin it’s yearly decipleship course. This trianing in God’s Word will last seven weeks, and will cover the basic truths and doctrines of the Word of Good.

The goal of the Music Ministry at CRBC is to lift up the Savior through the weekly song service and specials. Draw closer to the Lord each service through small group specials along with solos and an monthly choir special!

The nursery personell at Canyon Ridge are committed to watching over your children to allow you the opportunity to fully enjoy our worship times. Each nursery worker is hand picked and is required to attend quarterly nursery worker meetings. Nurseries are provided during each of our scheduled services.

Each Sunday, Canyon Ridge Baptist Church ministers to a number of children of different ages. You can expect to find caring nursery workers - for the youngest, and great Sunday School Teachers who will love your child and teach them weekly from the Word of God.

Do you ever feel pressured about fitting into the “cool” mold, or trying to be something you are not? You’re not alone…69% of teenagers feel the same way.

Each day 500 young people begin using drugs while 1000 will begin using alcohol. Surveys show 43% of young people feel pressured to use drugs or alcohol. This goes to show that young people will often seek acceptance in the wrong places and from the wrong people. What a bad place to be, needing acceptance and not knowing where to find it!

I have good news! God created you and has a purpose for your life. Not only that, He has given you the Bible as the manual to guide you as you deal with this need for acceptance.

Where can you go to learn from the Bible and find friends who will honestly accept you?

Every Sunday at 5:00pm the youth group of CRBC meets to hang out together and learn from God’s Word this most important truth about “finding acceptance with God.”

The singles of Canyon Ridge enjoy making new friendships with other Christians their age through monthly food outings after the service!

The Ladies of Canyon Ridge are blessed to be led by Pastor Chadwicks wife, Debby Chadwick. Ladies are encouraged through weekly Bible Study and prayer times. Also, each year the ladies of Canyon Ridge Batptist attend a ladies conference where they are given the opportunity to be spiritually renewed.

Why Jesus?

Here is what the Bible has to say about Heaven:

There are big questions that haunt all of us. What happens when I die? Where will I spend eternity? The single most important question that you will ever answer is this - “If I were to die today, would I spend eternity in Heaven with God?” Your relationship to Jesus Christ is central to the answer to that question.

The Bible tells us in I John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life…” The simple truth is God wants you to know where you’re going! So, here it is in a nutshell:

  • First, you must understand your need for a personal Saviour. The Bible is very clear that we all have a huge problem called sin. Romans 3:23 says it this way, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” This verse simply means that none of us are perfect. Are you willing to admit that?
  • The problem is this - sin has a high price tag. Romans 6:23a says, “For the wages of sin is death…” In other words, the price for sin is eternal death apart from God in a place called Hell - not a good thing! Because of our sin, none of us can make it into Heaven alone.
  • Here’s the good news - God sent help! The rest of Romans 6:23 says, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Again in Romans 5:8 God says, “But God commendeth His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!” This leads us to the second step.
  • You must believe that Jesus Christ wants to be your Saviour! Jesus Christ came to earth as God in the flesh, lived a perfect life, and then voluntarily died on a cross because He loves you. On that cross, He literally paid for all of your sins. He took your blame! He punished Himself for your wrong-doings. What a great gift!
  • John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God, in His awesome love, came to earth to make a way for you to be forgiven of your sins and given eternal life!
  • Finally, you must place your full trust in Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” In verse ten of that same chapter God says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” He says it’s as simple as believing and receiving! It’s as simple as asking!

If you’ve never asked Jesus Christ to be your personal Saviour, you could do that right now! With Him in your heart, life will make a lot more sense. You could stop right now and sincerely pray something like this:

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are God, that You died for my sin, and that You rose again from the dead. I know that I am a sinner, and I ask You now to be my personal Saviour. I’m placing my full trust in You alone, and I now accept Your gift of eternal life. Thank you for keeping Your promise! Amen.

You’ll never regret that decision! If you have just trusted Christ, we would love to know about your decision and give you a Bible and some other materials to help you learn more about that new relationship! Give us a call at 858.627.9394 or contact us and let us know of your decision today!

Our Beliefs

Scriptures

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God and that it is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. For reasons of textual reliability, we believe that God has preserved His Word for the English speaking people in the King James Version of the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:20-21

Sovereign God

God is a Person, eternally existing, as a Trinity in unity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - three Persons and yet one God. Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, I Corinthians 8:6

The Son

Jesus Christ, eternally existing, is the only begotten Son of God, who became a sinless man to redeem us. He was born of a virgin and is true God and true man. Luke 1:30-55, John 1:1-15, Philippians 2:5-8

Service

The local church is a group of believers baptized by water, banded together for edification, exhortation, and evangelism as commanded by Christ in the Great Commission; preaching the Gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15, I Corinthians 12:12, Ephesians 1:22-23

Sin

Man was created in the image of God but fell through sin, bringing not only physical death, but also spiritual death or eternal separation from God. Now all of mankind exists as a fallen race with an inherited sinful nature. Genesis 2:16, Genesis 3:16-19, Romans 3:10-23, Romans 6:23

Sacrifice of Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ suffered and died as a substitutionary payment for the sins of the whole world. He physically arose from the dead and then ascended into Heaven. Simple faith in this sacrifice is the only way of salvation for mankind. Luke 24, Acts 1:9-11, Romans 5:8-10, I Peter 3:18

End Times

Jesus Christ Himself will soon come again in the air to catch up His Church to reward their service. The unbelievers left behind will go through a period called the Tribulation, after which Christ will return to the Earth to set up His Kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule. After this, the unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever, while the believers spend eternity in the fullness of joy in Heaven with the Lord. Matthew 24:29-42, I Thessalonians 4:16-18, Revelation 19:11-20:13

Stewardship of Our Finances

1. We acknowledge that ALL THAT WE HAVE “GOD OWNS.”

We believe that everything that is good on the earth is from God and that we are merely stewards of God’s possessions. (Jas. 1:17, 1 Chron. 29:11-12, Hag. 2:5-8, Col. 1:16-17, 1 Cor. 4:1)

2. We will TRUST GOD knowing that He will supply ALL OF OUR NEEDS.

We acknowledge that God leads us and provides all that we need to achieve His objectives. (Matt. 6:31-33, Phil. 4:19, 2 Cor. 9:6-8, Eph. 3:20)

3. We will teach and model scriptural giving, knowing that GOD will MULTIPLY.

(Gen. 14:17-20, Deut. 14:22, Mal. 3:5-12, 1 Cor. 16:1-2, 2 Cor. 8:3-7)

4. We will obey God’s command to SEND MISSIONARIES throughout the world.

We will not allow missions giving to be decreased in order to support other on-going ministries. (Acts 1:8, Phil. 4:10-17, 2 Cor. 8:1-9, Acts 13:1-2)

5. We will be GOOD MANAGERS, believing that God is the owner and He will reward our faithfulness.

(Matt. 25:14-30, 1 Cor. 4:12, 2 Cor. 8:20-21)

1. Faithfulness with managing worldly wealth brings a spiritual reward. (Luke 16:11)

2. We will keep clear and accurate financial records of all ministries which will be maintained daily by our accounting staff, reviewed monthly by our deacons, and audited or reviewed annually by a competent, independent, certified public accountant.

3. We will provide an annual church report to our members and welcome questions throughout the year.

4. We will only purchase goods and services when we know we can pay the bills within agreed upon terms.

5. We will only borrow money when the means to repay is certain (either through analysis of regular giving or pledged collateral or both).(Jas. 4:13-14, Pro. 21:5, Pro. 17:18, Pro. 27: 1)

6. We will endeavor to LEARN CONTENTMENT as this is God’s will for us.

We believe the Scriptures tell us to be content with little or much and to give God thanks in all things. (1 Tim. 6:6-10, 2 Cor. 9:8-15, Phil. 4:11-15, Heb. 13:5)

7.We will in all things seek to GLORIFY CHRIST in His Church.

(Ps. 96:8, Col. 1:15-19, Eph. 3:21)
